IJRU 2021 Announcement
IJRU has secured the location and dates for the 2021 IJRU World Championships. Given there are still significant global uncertainties about the impact of COVID-19, we are not able to 100% confirm the 2021 tournament details. Some of the details may change as the global pandemic evolves, but at this point in time, we are planning to hold the 2021 IJRU World Championships in Ottawa, Canada.
We would like to thank the global jump rope/rope skipping community for your support and understanding during these uncertain times.
IJRU 2021 location and dates
IJRU 2021 will be held in Ottawa, Canada at TD Place Arena from July 19 to 26. We understand these timings overlap with the revised 2021 Olympic dates, however, within the three month window, this was the only time we were able to secure the event venue. Communication with GAISF has been undertaken.
Age categories and rule updates
In order to ensure those athletes that have already qualified, and to provide a fair environment for all, the IJRU Technical Committee is in the process of reviewing the rules to add clarifying language to minor sections of the rulebook. We are also using data from the 18 tournaments that have taken place worldwide using the IJRU rules in 2019/2020 to make small modifications and ensure the best possible judging system for our athletes and sport.
All rule changes and age category clarification for 2021 will be finalized and communicated in July, 2020 after receiving approval from the Technical Congress and Board of Directors. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to the IJRU Technical Committee at tcom@ijru.sport if you have any questions about the rules.
