IJRU Visits Yuedong, Shanghai to Celebrate Everybody Jump Program

IJRU was recently invited to visit Yuedong in Shanghai, China, to celebrate over 12 months of the Everybody Jump Program. The delegation included Kirralee (Board of Directors), Taryn (Technical Committee), athletes Luke Boon (Australia) and Vicki Shi (USA), along with coach and translator Jinny Kong. Hosted by the Yuedong team, the group visited 11 schools in the district, where athletes performed demonstrations and shared insights about the Everybody Jump Program.

The excitement and joy on the faces of students and teachers alike as they watched elite jump rope athletes in action was truly inspiring. These interactive performances engaged students directly, allowing them to participate in various disciplines such as single rope, double dutch, and long rope. The athletes did an incredible job ensuring that every child felt successful in their participation, showcasing the inclusivity and accessibility of the sport.

During the visit, the Yuedong team also celebrated their 16th anniversary, providing a wonderful opportunity to connect with staff and hear about their passion for jump rope. The celebration highlighted the strong community and commitment to the sport within Yuedong.

Additionally, IJRU facilitated an education exchange, bringing together many athletes and coaches for a two-day conference led by Taryn and Luke. Many expressed that the education significantly enhanced their understanding. IJRU encouraged attendees to take the next step by completing official judge training through the CRSA (China Rope Skipping Association).

The visit was a resounding success, strengthening relationships, fostering enthusiasm for jump rope, and promoting education within the sport. IJRU looks forward to continued collaboration and growth within the global jump rope community.
