Athlete Feature: Mav Larkin (Australia)
Mav Larkin, from Brisbane, Australia, has spent 12 years pushing the boundaries of competitive jump rope. A five-time Junior World Champion and current world record holder in the Double Dutch Speed Relay, Larkin continues to make his mark on the sport.
In 2025, he performed at the Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Parade in Hong Kong, an event that drew over 100,000 spectators and showcased talent from around the world. For Mav, one of the biggest rewards of the sport is the chance to connect with international athletes, learning and sharing skills beyond language barriers.
At the most recent World Championships, he won a gold medal in the Double Dutch Team All Around (Mixed Category), along with six silver and four bronze medals, including third place in the Junior World Championship Individual Overall. His success at the 2024 Australian National Championships was equally impressive, where he won six Grand National titles and set four new records, bringing his total to 10 national records.
Beyond competing, Mav has been growing the sport through TM Jumprope, a business he founded in 2021. Now in its fourth year, it provides training, workshops, and high-quality jump ropes to athletes worldwide. To focus on training and business, he transitioned to homeschooling two years ago, allowing him to travel internationally for workshops and competitions, with recent stops in Canada, China, and Hong Kong.
With world records, championship titles, and a growing global presence, Mav is not only excelling as an athlete but also shaping the future of jump rope on an international scale.
