Technical Publications Modernization Initiative (TPMI) Recruitment

Help Shape the Future of Jump Rope

Application Deadline - 30 October 2026

IJRU is launching the Technical Publications Modernization Initiative, or TPMI, to modernize how the rules of competitive jump rope are organized, approved, published, taught, and maintained.

The TPMI will be undertaken in partnership with the IJRU Technical Committee. It is not intended to replace, compete with, or diminish the Technical Committee’s authority or expertise. Instead, the initiative will provide additional people, skills, and resources to support the Committee’s work.

Technical knowledge will remain central to the project. The Technical Committee, its subcommittees, judges, athletes, coaches, event organizers, and National Governing Bodies will work collaboratively to ensure the new publications are technically accurate, practical, and accessible.

The initiative will work toward:

  • An authoritative Competitive Rules of Jump Rope;

  • Separate regulations for IJRU championships;

  • Downloadable and searchable publications;

  • Consistent terminology, numbering, and version control;

  • Clearer educational resources; and

  • A sustainable process for managing future rule changes.

As the TPMI proposal states, this is “not simply an editorial redesign.” It is a collaborative effort to make competitive jump rope easier to understand, teach, govern, and deliver throughout the world.

The project will be overseen by IJRU Board Member Mr. Luke Winstanly, working closely with the Technical Committee and other IJRU stakeholders.

IJRU welcomes expressions of interest from people with experience in competition rules, judging, scoring, coaching, athletic participation, event delivery, education, governance, writing, editing, translation, accessibility, publishing, technology, or data.

Participants do not need expertise in every area. We are seeking constructive collaborators who respect IJRU’s technical governance and want to support the Technical Committee in building a stronger foundation for the sport.
