The International Jump Rope Union is excited to announce that Jump Rope will be featured as an Open Competition Event at the 2027 World Masters Games in Kyoto, Japan, on 5–6 June 2027! This is an important milestone for the sport, made possible through the years of dedication and advocacy by the Japan Jump Rope Union (JJRU).

The World Masters Games (WMG) is a major international multi-sport event for athletes aged 30 and over, bringing together participants from around the world to compete and celebrate lifelong participation in sport. The 2027 Games will be particularly historic as the first World Masters Games to be held in Asia, featuring more than 35 sports and 59 disciplines.

A Milestone for Jump Rope

The inclusion of Jump Rope as an Open Competition at WMG 2027 is the result of years of dedication and advocacy by the Japan Jump Rope Union (JJRU). In June 2026, the Jump Rope Open Competition was officially approved to move forward, marking an exciting new chapter for the sport.
